Lending Library

We’ve been thinking about setting up a lending library, primarily as a resource for people to spread the knitting & crochet word, such as teachers etc.
The teaching of knitting & crochet in schools has fallen off dramatically in the last few years, and we think it’s a great shame. Anything that can be done to encourage more teachers to teach these crafts is to be applauded, we think.
It would also be a great resource for beginner knitters, and those who would prefer to “try before they buy”.
We are considering having two categories, one where the books are “freecycled” where they do not need to be returned, but are expected to be offered on to other knitters when finished with.
The second category would be loan only, where the book/magazine would remain the property of the lender, and would be expected to be returned within a set period of time, say 2 weeks, and in good condition.
For either category, postage would be paid by the person receiving the book. This service will only be available to people in Ireland, unfortunately, due to prohibitive postage costs & administration.

It should be noted that we would merely be the intemediaries in this service, not the suppliers. The books would be circulated by the owners and not us here at Irish Knitting.

Any opinions/suggestions about this possible service would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me at knitincATgmailDOTcom.

Fab idea, and a great way for me to circulate my no-longer-needed collection of knitting magazines. Freecyclying here we come. Let me know how to get this started and I’m on board!

Agree with Nic. Great idea. I’d have some books to offload too.
